Premises for secret meetings in the basement of the Lithuanian parliament should be equipped by the end of this year, says Parliamentary Speaker Loreta Graužinienė.

"I cannot specify the date of completion, it depends on the volume of work but we must have it, as the current premises are no longer suitable for work under certain requirements. We are trying to consolidate our 2015 budget funds, we hope it will be completed this year," Graužinienė told BNS on Friday.

The office of the Seimas said that renovation of the Central Building would be continued this summer after being launched in 2011 and conducted in phases.

The parliament's board has decided to equip premises that would meet security requirements, as the existing meeting room for secret meetings falls short of security requirements and is, furthermore, too small.
