New proposed amendments to the Labour Code of Lithuania suggest that the minimum monthly wage should not be lower than half of the previous year's average wage, which is estimated and announced by Statistics Lithuania.

This proposal was submitted by MP Naglis Puteikis.

"I believe that this would be in line with a provision emerging in other European countries regarding the ratio of the minimum and average wages, which seeks social justice. It would limit economically-unjustified manipulations and would be a step towards a more responsible policy," the MP says.
