Responding to reports about "elections" held in Ukraine's Autonomous Republic of Crimea on 14 September, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry underlined that Lithuania supported Ukraine's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and considered organising such "elections" in Crimea as yet another illegal action of the occupation authorities.

"We do not recognise the constitutional nor legal grounds on the basis of which these "elections" were organised. At the same time we express our concern about the violations of human rights, which have become more frequent in the illegally annexed Ukraine's Autonomous Republic of Crimea," the MFA statement reads.
