"I was shocked by the news about the killing of the Japanese journalist Kenji Goto. It is an outrageous act of terror which once again proves that Islamic State is the embodiment of evil.

"I extend my sincere condolences to the families of Kenji Goto and Haruna Yukawa, the Japanese citizens killed by terrorists and express my support to the Japanese people and the government for not yielding to terrorists and fighting them. Lithuania has always been and will be among those who fight against terrorism," the minister said in his statement.
