The delegation, led by Deputy Interior Minister Elvinas Jankevičius, is meeting with Italian officials in charge of migration.

As Lithuania is preparing to accept some of the refugees that have been arriving in Europe in thousands, its officials have already visited refugee camps in Greece.

As part of the EU refugee resettlement programme, Lithuania has agreed to take in 1,105 asylum seekers from Syria, Iraq and Eritrea over the coming two years.
