October 25 is celebrated as the Constitution Day in Lithuania. On this day in 1992, Lithuanians voted for the country’s current democratic Constitution which was endorsed by over 75% of all voters.

Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė said on Sunday that “on the day of the Constitution, let us remember that it is the foundation of Lithuania and the safeguard of personal freedom. It is up to us to ensure that it works by respecting human rights, protecting of the country and its fundamental values“.
