Russian President Vladimir Putin's press secretary, Dmitri Peskov, said on Monday that Moscow was ready for talks with the Baltic states.

"Russia is open to a direct dialogue - always, with all nations," Peskov said, and added: "Russia has always advocated regulating all problems, and minimizing the trust deficit in bilateral relations via active dialogue."

As reported , Russian Premier Dmitri Medvedev declared last Thursday that via the principle of equal rights, Russia was ready to develop relations with the Baltic states.

"25 years have been spent for nothing, but it is not our fault," Medvedev declared.
