According to Saulius Caplinskas, head of the Center for Communicable Diseases and AIDS, a man in his 50s contracted the infectious disease.

"His vaccination status is unknown but judging from the amount of antibodies, we can assume that he has received only one vaccination dose and has no immunity," he told BNS, adding that the man has not travelled outside Lithuania lately.

"One thing is clear and that is that he has not been outside the country recently," the ULAC director said.

ULAC figures also show that 834 measles cases, including 196 children and 638 adults, were recorded in Lithuania last year, with the largest numbers recorded in Kaunas and Vilnius Counties.
