A general reserve of national defence should be prepared in Lithuania's education institutions, namely, schools and universities, says the ruling Peasant and Green Union's leader Ramūnas Karbauskis who heads the parliamentary Culture Committee.

He proposed the idea on Wednesday during the committee's discussion of the new National Security Strategy draft.

In Karbauskis' words, a few schools and a university should be selected a the beginning as pilot institutions.

"Implementing if on the national level at once would be impossible," said the Culture Committee's leader.

He suggested that females should also be trained for defence reserve.
