"Since at the moment we are looking for new export markets, cooperation with Japan is very important to us. We hope to finalise all necessary formal procedures to be able to supply high quality products from our producers," the minister said.

The Japanese ambassador agreed with the minister on the quality of Lithuanian products and added that she knew very well what they tasted like. "Lithuanian products are famous world-wide and I would definitely recommend them to my compatriots," she said.

In 2013, Lithuania exported products to Japan worth EUR 11 million or twice more than in 2012, while imports totalled EUR 131,000.
