Shortages of skilled IT and technology industry project managers in Lithuania will drive up salaries and create increasing opportunities for female managers according to recruitment experts.

While there are more than 6,200 project managers in Lithuania recruitment specialists said there were a lack of competent project managers available.

It is estimated that there will be a shortage of 13,000 IT professionals in the Lithuanian labour market, including project managers, this year alone.

Alliance for Recruitment partner Andrius Franco said that IT project managers in Lithuania earn no less than in Estonia - about €2400-€3700 per month.

“More and more project managers are working in global international corporations and because of new foreign investors they can work in these roles without leaving Lithuania and have broad areas of responsibility,” said Franco.

In addition to the IT sector, project management consultancy services, banking, investment management, energy, telecommunications, manufacturing, health care and construction sectors also all require a range of project managers.

“While at present the statistics show that there are less women project managers than male, the trend should gradually change,” said LPVA Board member, projects and business processes change consultant Aurimas Pautienius-Želvys.
