He will assume the position of an adviser at the department's International Relation Division, the Ministry of Finance said on Thursday.

"It was his personal decision. I satisfied his request and wish him success in the new professional area," Finance Minister Vilius Šapoka said.

The change will come into force on Jul. 9, and Jonas Miškinis, a deputy director general, will serve as acting director general. The Finance Ministry plans to announce a competition for this position soon.

The minister hopes the new director will increase the organization's effectiveness in the areas of human resources, the management of funds allocated for staff pay, and use of equipment and systems.
