The consulate is headed by Honorary Consular Asta Naumenko Meschin, the co-owner of several pizza restaurants and cafes.

"I'm sure that the active honorary consul will bring our countries even closer together and open up new opportunities for bilateral cooperation," Eduardas Borisovas, director of the Department of Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Oceania at the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry, said at the opening ceremony on Thursday.

Roxana Michelle Prieto Andrade has served as Lithuania's honorary consul in Guatemala since 2017.

The Central American country's ambassador to Lithuania resides in Sweden.
