Saulius Skvernelis, prime minister delegated by the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union, says that the plans of moving the ministries of Environment and Agriculture to Kaunas had not been discarded, regardless of the party's group voting against the proposal of the conservatives earlier on Thursday.

Skvernelis told journalists at the parliament that restructuring of the public sector was viewed as an integrated issue, dismissing the bill registered by opposition conservatives as an attempt to "make a show out of legislature".

"The government is not giving it up, however, we are talking in the context of restructuring of the whole public sector, as there is a plan to consolidate all buildings into a single location," the prime minister added.

All of Lithuania's 14 ministries are currently based in Vilnius.
