Lithuania’s government has decided to ask the president to submit the Lithuanian-Swedish maritime boundary treaty to the Seimas (parliament) for ratification.

The treaty, which was signed in April, is expected to ensure the security of NordBalt, a power interconnection between Lithuania and Sweden.

Under the plan, the Lithuanian-Swedish power cable NordBalt will be built by the end of 2015. It will allow create a common Baltic-Swedish power market and reduce dependence on Russia.
