Expert-level discussions on the matter are scheduled to start in May.

"Lithuania has indicated willingness to get 12 howitzers from Germany, and we have the possibility of providing Lithuania with the weaponry," von der Leyen said at a news conference with Lithuanian Defence Minister Juozas Olekas.

The two ministers did not reveal the price of the deal, however, the German minister noted that an agreement of "solidarity" would be reached.

In her words, experts will meet in May to also discuss the possibility for Lithuania to buy Boxer armoured vehicles from Germany.

Speaking at a joint news conference, Olekas confirmed that specific expert talks about the self-propelled howitzers PzH 2000 would open next month, with the agreement expected "in the nearest future".
