US business tycoon billionaire George Soros is willing to continue supporting projects that are aimed at promoting development of human rights and democracy in Eastern Europe, Lithuania's Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius said after meeting him in New York on Thursday.

"We thanked him for his strategic stance and support to Eastern European projects, which have to do with democracy and human rights," the minister told BNS after the meeting.

"The values are very important for him, and there are quite a few projects. He possesses strategic thinking and ensures consistent support, he is willing to continue the cooperation and continue the long-term projects to support human rights and democratic development in Eastern Europe," said the minister.

Linkevičius refused to specify any projects.

Soros, one of the top 30 wealthiest people in the world, is known for his philanthropic activities. He heads the Open Society Institute.
