Nausediene thanked Germany for solidarity in helping Lithuania’s citizens return from abroad in the beginning of the pandemic and congratulated Berlin on taking over the EU presidency.

Budenbender, in her turn, inquired about Nausediene’s initiatives and activities during the lockdown, including the initiative of a potential blood donor bank and promotion of children’s physical activity in cooperation with the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee.

The first ladies also discussed possible lines of cooperation, in particular in the area of professional training, as well as an international conference on the issues of climate change, social security and education, which was initiated by Nausediene and was scheduled to take place in Vilnius on June 3.

Nausediene and Budenbender expressed their readiness to continue with and step up the development of all cooperation initiatives with due regard to the global situation.

The Lithuanian First Lady met her German counterpart during the Lithuanian President’s official visit to Berlin last August.
