On Friday, the new Deputy Minister of Interior Paulius Beinaris (30), delegated by the Order and Justice party, submitted his letter of resignation which the minister accepted shortly. Beinaris says that he was forced to step down because of "hostile atmosphere".

"I am resigning because I do not see any possibilities of performing my duty as a deputy minister, given such hostile atmosphere here. From the very first day I was thrown into a flow of dirt and slander, which is unacceptable to me. I appreciate the trust that was shown to me, however, having discussed it with my family, I am making a decision which will guarantee a peace of mind to me and my loved-ones," he said in his press release.

Interior Minister Dailis Alfonsas Barakauskas has accepted his deputy's letter of resignation.

Beinaris was appointed to the post only a few days ago.
