Defense Minister Raimundas Karoblis expects US President Donald Trump to dispel any remaining doubts over the US commitment to NATO's collective defense clause during his visit to Poland next month.

Karoblis said that he expected to hear from Trump that "the region is really significant, a region that takes care of its security, a region and its countries that are investing in their defense".

The US president is expected to visit Poland on July 6.

Trump sparked anxiety in Eastern European countries last year when he said during his presidential election campaign that NATO was outdated.
