People infected with the coronavirus will be treated in five Lithuanian hospitals, Deputy Minister of Health Algirdas Seselgis said on Friday.

He told the parliamentary Committee on health that patients would be hospitalized in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Siauliai and Panevezys.

"We have 782 beds where we can hospitalize today already," he said.

All in all 70 people have been tested for the coronavirus in Lithuania, the Health Ministry said, with the results of six tests still being awaited.

The only coronavirus case was on Friday confirmed in the northern city of Siauliai where a woman was diagnosed after returning from northern Italy.
