"Cooperation with Sweden and other Nordic and Baltic countries is Lithuania's key priority," said Linkevičius.

Lithuania's foreign minister noted excellent bilateral relations and successful development of economic ties. Sweden ranks the first in terms of foreign investment in Lithuania.

The officials agreed about a need to continue to fully support Ukraine and to keep strong position towards Russia. Linkevičius stressed that Sweden was a very important partner in ensuring regional security.

"We are facing very similar threats, so we have to act in a coordinated manner," said the minister.

Linkevičius expressed his satisfaction that the NordBalt project, which aims to connecting Lithuanian and Swedish power transmission systems, was being successfully implemented and the countries' markets will be integrated by early 2016.

The head of Lithuania's diplomacy invited the speaker of the Swedish parliament to take part in the traditional Snow Meeting in Trakai early next year.
