Commission calls for state-level emergency over coronavirus threat

The Lithuanian government's Emergency Commission recommended on Monday that the government declare a state-level emergency due to the coronavirus threat.

According to the World Health Organization, there were 78,000 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus globally as of Sunday and the death toll reached 2,462 people.

The COVID-19 virus has already spread to 28 countries and is causing increasing concern due to new outbreaks in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

In Italy, more than 150 people have been infected and four have died of the coronavirus. Over ten towns have been put under lockdown.
