Li Jianhong, the chairman of the company's board, said that the company is planning three types of operations in Lithuania. These would include activities in Lithuania's ports, which could be come a gateway for products traveling between Asia and Europe, a close cooperative import-export relationship with Lietuvos Geležinkeliai, and logistical operations.

“Once our corporation begins work in Lithuania, new opportunities for Lithuania and China to work together will arise. The port of Klaipėda will serve us as a gateway to the Baltic sea,” said Jianhong.

Jianhong met with Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius on Tuesday to discuss investment opportunities.

“Lithuania and China have many opportunities to improve their bilateral economic and trade relationships, so the agreements between CMG and Lithuanian companies that I signed during my last visit to China in November of 2015 were another step towards strengthening our strategic partnership,” said Butkevičius. “I am glad that China has chosen Lithuania as the location to implement its Silk Road strategy and establish a centre for 'one road, one economic partnership' in Lithuania.”
