About 140 German troops scheduled to land in the Karmėlava airport in the Kaunas district to join the international NATO battalion to be stationed in Lithuania.

The soldiers will arrive aboard two airplanes and will proceed to Rukla. At the Karmelava airport, they will be welcomed by the battalion's commander Christoph Huber of Germany who arrived in Lithuania last week.

On February 1-10, about 450 German troops with tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and other equipment should come to the Baltic state.

The international battalion to be finalized in June will consist of more than 1,000 troops from a few NATO member-states.
