The AK-4MT guns will be used in training and exercises run by the LŠS. The LŠS will be entrusted with the weapons for 10 years after completing a contract with the ministry. The weapons will be stored in both LŠS and ministry armories.

The LŠS, which organizes camps and training exercises for youth and adults alike, was re-formed in 1989 after being dissolved during the Soviet occupation of Lithuania.
