Four opposition groups of the Lithuanian parliament have suggested holding premature parliamentary elections.

"The only way out of the situation is dismissing the current Seimas and holding Seimas elections within three months. There is just no other way," said conservative MP Irena Degutienė, parliamentary vice-speaker.

Support to early elections was expressed by the conservative Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats, the Liberal Movement, the Order and Justice Party and the Social Democrats.

The move came in the aftermath of the Tuesday's vote on Mindaugas Bastys impeachment process where some MPs took pictures of their ballot papers and later published them.
