Around 310,000 people lived in deep poverty, lacking funds for at least four out of six basic material deprivation elements, the latest figures from Lithuania's statistics office, Statistics Lithuania, showed on Friday.

The share of city and rural dwellers living in deep poverty was almost the same, standing at 11.1 and 11.2 percent respectively, down by 1.6 and 0.5 percentage points respectively from 2017.

In major cities, the share of materially-deprived persons stood at 8.6 percent and was 15.1 percent in other cities, compared to 11.3 and 14.8 percent respectively in 2017.
