Trauma during the last match of the preparation cycle has made it impossible for the captain of the Lithuanian national team, point guard Mantas Kalnietis, to participate in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

After dislocating his collarbone during the match with Croatia on Wednesday evening, Kalnietis will fly back to Lithuania later on Wednesday.

The Lithuanian team head coach Jonas Kazlauskas said after the match that Kalnietis would be replaced by Adas Juškevičius.

"The loss of Mantas is a huge one, however, we cannot keep thinking about it, there are other players who need self-confidence. We will need them very much for the future," forward Jonas Mačiulis said after Wednesday's game.

On Wednesday, the Lithuanian national team will continue practise in Croatia and will take a charter flight from Zagreb to Gran Canaria on 28 August. Lithuania will kick off the 2014 FIBA World Cup with a match with Mexico on 30 August. In addition to Mexico, Lithuania will have to play Angola, Australia, South Korea and Slovenia in Group D.

Lithuania's national team includes point guard Šarūnas Vasiliauskas, shooting guards Renaldas Seibutis and Adas Juškevičius, power forwards Jonas Mačiulis, Kšyštof Lavrinovič, Paulius Jankūnas, Donatas Motiejūnas, Mindaugas Kuzminskas and Simas Jasaitis, as well as centres Darjuš Lavrinovič and Jonas Valančiūnas.
