"You are the hope of Lithuanian boxing. You fought bravely in the ring and won the first medal in the adult competition. This is a reward for your endurance and persistent training," the president's message of congratulations read.

The head of state wished this would inspire Stanionis for future victories. The president also wished Stanionis luck in the upcoming world championships and to win the place in the Olympics.

Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius said, "I sincerely congratulate you with the magnificent result. The achievement is not only your personal joy, but joy for all Lithuanians. We are thankful to you that the European boxing gold medal has been returned to Lithuania after many years."

The head of the Government added that every victory not only strengthens will and improves trust in ones ability, but also fosters patriotism and promotes the name of Lithuania across the globe.

The prime minister wished Stanionis luck in the world championships in which another Lithuanian boxer will participate, Evaldas Petrauskas, who won a bronze medal in Bulgaria.
