Lithuanian cyclist Simona Krupeckaitė has qualified for the women's sprint quarterfinals at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Simona Krupeckaitė

The first attempt of the Lithuanian athlete was unsuccessful, but she did not give up and secured a place in top eight after the successful consolation race.

Simona controlled the situation in the consolation race right from the start.

“When there is a group run, there are a lot of people and it is a little easier to control the group from the front than from the rear, because you have a 5-metre advantage over other people. Of course, it all depends on what athletes are behind you. In most cases, at least for me it is easier to control the situation from the front,” said Krupeckaitė.
