Vilnius police said on Wednesday they have detained a man who is suspected of having lured young women into his apartment with promises of an international modelling career and then drugging and raping them.

The suspect is named as A. A., born in 1989, but a police spokesman told BNS that he cannot deny media reports that he is Airinas Arutiunianas, who calls himself an "Alpha man".

As part of a pre-trial investigation into a rape, police detectives have found out that a person advertising himself online as "photographer Dovydas" looked for young women who wanted to become fashion models.

He would ask a girl to come to his apartment in Vilnius for a "photo shoot," take pictures and have sexual intercourse with her, apparently after drugging her.

A search of the apartment revealed hidden cameras. The police suspect that pictures taken during the "photo shoots" and videos recorded with hidden cameras were used for criminal purposes.

The "photographer" was tracked down and arrested.

It is thought that not all of his victims have turned to the police.
