Vytautas Landsbergis, Lithuania's first post-independence leader, was released from hospital on Thursday, his son confirmed to BNS.

"He was just released, we're driving home, everything is fine," he said.

Landsbergis, the chairman of Lithuania's Supreme Council – Reconstituent Seimas, spent about a month in hospital.

The ailment forced him to miss the centennial festivities on Feb. 16 and the Restoration of Independence Day on March 11, however, forwarded his congratulatory messages or on social networks.
