"We have several records. The police, prosecutors and courts have the highest rating over the 15-year record period," Vladas Gaidys head of the public opinion and market research center Vilmorus, which carried out the survey, told BNS on Saturday.

According to the results of the survey published in the Lietuvos Rytas daily, 59 percent of people in Lithuania trust the police, and 10 percent don’t.

Moreover, 29 percent have trust in the prosecution service, and 20 percent don't trust it. 28 percent of those surveyed have trust in courts and 23 percent do not. The remaining respondents did not have an opinion.

"The police rating continues to grow. The courts and prosecutors' ratings are not very high but the balance is positive," Gaidys said.

Fire fighters traditionally enjoy the highest public trust rating, now standing at 92 percent. On the opposite end, political parties are least trust, with 6.7 percent of people trusting them.
1,034 people were surveyed on May 12-17, Gaidys told BNS.
