Some 32,000 cases of influenza were reported in Lithuania in the past flu season, which is double that of the 2014-2015 season, the Center for Communicable Diseases and AIDS said.

According to the press release, 22 persons died of flu this year while there were no deaths during the previous season.

The number of hospitalized patients has also increased in the 2015-2016 season – a total of 1,843 people were taken to hospitals compared to 903 in the 2014-2015 season.

Some 95,000 persons were vaccinated for free this past season, which covers 99.8% of those in the highest risk group for the flu.
