The number of nuptial agreements signed in Lithuania last year is the highest since the Register of Nuptial Agreements was launched in the country. Furthermore, agreements were concluded by persons in their 70s and 80s, the Justice Ministry said.

Some 1,250 new nuptial agreements were registered last year, as compared with 1,075 in 2013. As of 31 December 2014, a total of 7,260 agreements were listed on the public register.

According to the press release, the average age of women concluding nuptial agreements was 36, while the average age for men was 39. Agreements were signed by 16 people over the age of 70. The oldest man concluding the agreement was 85, while the oldest woman was 83, as compared to the youngest signers aged 19 and 18, respectively.
