"Internship with NASA's research centre provides a great opportunity for students to learn about advanced research, establish ties for cooperation and apply the gained experience in Lithuania," said Minister of Education and Science Dainius Pavalkis.

According to Director of MITA, Arūnas Karlonas, the cooperation agreement that was signed with NASA in 2014 has opened a unique opportunity for Lithuanian students for placements in NASA Ames Research Centre. NASA will grant access to its infrastructure and resources and allow to gain experience from cooperation with the best scientists and engineers.

Winners of the competition will complete a 4-month internship with NASA Ames Research Centre in Palo Alto, California. During the internship students from all over the world will work on certain projects and contribute to the most advanced research and space technology development.

Students in the field of STEM - science, technology, engineering and mathematics - may participate in the competition.

MITA and NASA signed a bilateral agreement on cooperation in international internship programme in October 2014.
