In July, three Christian families, a total of 15 people, from Iraq resettled in Lithuania. They are assisted by Caritas organisation from Vilnius archdiocese. Iraqis have already submitted asylum applications in Lithuania. Now they are learning the Lithuanian and English languages, the history of Lithuania while their children started attending a Lithuanian school on 1 September. Two of the refugees are pedagogues, others worked in the public, construction and industrial sectors.

Caritas has been implementing its foreigner integration programme for 15 years. The goal of the programme is to help refugees and asylum seekers to successfully integrate in the country, change qualifications, find jobs, learn the Lithuanian language. At the moment, 90 people from countries like Ukraine, Iraq, Afghanistan are participating in the programme.
