This is the third large haul of smuggled cigarettes seized in Lithuania over the past two weeks the Customs Criminal Service said on Monday.

It put the total value of the seized cigarettes at nearly 3 million euros.

A haul of illegal cigarettes with an estimated value of almost 2 million euros, hidden in a truck carrying wood chips, was detained on the Kaunas-Marijampolė road on August 24.

That followed the detention of 350,000 euros' worth of illegal cigarettes stashed among peat briquettes at the Vaidotai railway station.
