Nov. 19 is marked as the Day of the Poor for the first time after being announced by Pope Francis.

Lithuanian bishops said the day should draw our attention to the people suffering material poverty and injustice, as well as those affected by face and other people.

At the end of the anniversary of mercy a year ago, Pope Francis invited people to commemorate the Day of the Poor worldwide. In Vilnius, the Day of the Poor coincides with the main day of the wake of the Day of the Mother of Mercy of the Gate of Dawn.
