The Lithuanian government plans to declare an emergency situation over the Gediminas Castle Hill to make funds available for saving the crumbling historical hill in the center of Vilnius, Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis said on Monday.

"Apparently, we will be forced to declare an emergency situation in order to find additional sources of funding," he told reporters.

According to Skvernelis, a comprehensive strategy will be worked out to save the hill, which is in danger of collapsing because of its sliding slopes.
