The survey was commissioned by news agency ELTA and carried out on 10-23 July by pollster Baltijos Tyrimai. It has revealed support for the Fire and Rescue Department increased from 85 to 88 percent compared to June. Whereas 9 percent of the polled said they mistrusted the Department.
Apart from fire-fighters Lithuanians mostly trust the Church (73 percent trust, 19 percent mistrust), police (66 against 29 percent), and the national defence (65 against 29 percent). The President's Office, which usually is among the top three most trusted institutions, was placed fifth in July. 64 percent of the respondents trusted while 29 percent mistrusted it.
In July, compared with June, confidence in the Church grew by 5 percentage points, in police - by 4 percentage points, in the Prosecutor's Office - by 3 percentage points. In July, 43 percent of the respondents said they trusted in the Prosecutor's Office while 46 percent mistrusted.
People continue to mistrust the most the courts (40 percent trust, 53 mistrust), commercial banks (35 against 59 percent) and the Lithuanian Parliament (28 against 68 percent).
