Last year, free school meals were granted to 90,500 children and financial support to buy school supplies, to 80,400.

Schoolchildren are entitled to free meals and support to buy school supplies if average income per member of their household does not exceed EUR 153 per month.

According Social Security and Labour Minister Algimanta Pabedinskienė, financial assistance to buy school supplies currently stands at EUR 45.6 per schoolchild. "Taking into account changes in prices of goods and services we plan to increase the financial support to EUR 57," she says.
