On Tuesday, troops of the explosives neutralization unit of the Lithuanian Juozas Vitkus Engineering Battalion were called to neutralize explosives 12 times, the Defence Ministry said.

The unit responded to calls in Vilnius, Kaunas, Panevėžys, Pakruojis and Kretinga, as well as Reivyčiai village in Mažeikiai district, Rimkai village in Jonava district, Klevečkinė and Piniava villages in Panevėžys district, Bučiūnai village in Vilkaviškis district, Liukaičiai village in Radviliškis district and Kauknarys village in Lazdijai district.

Among the neutralized explosives were nine artillery shells, two mines, one unguided missile, three hand grenades and several large cartridges.

Deployed in Vilnius, Kaunas, Panevėžys, Alytus, Klaipėda and Tauragė, the mine-clearing units perform tasks across Lithuania.
