Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius has said that if it were to become clear that Minister of the Environment Kęstutis Trečiokas had lied in comments about his relationship with Druskininkai mayor Ričardas Malinauskas, he would be asked to resign.

“If it becomes clear that the minister lied, I will suggest he resign. If he does not comply, I will present his compulsory resignation to the president,” said Butkevičius in a televised interview on Tuesday.

According to him, he is waiting until Wednesday night for his advisors' conclusions regarding legal questions in minister Trečiokas' case. Trečiokas is accused of having used his influence to secure permission for the construction of a manor in a questionably legal location.
