Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė says that the search for the country's next justice minister has been unsuccessful so far.

"Yes, we have been discussing this with the prime minister, but so far these talks have produced no results," she told reporters.

The parliamentary Social Democratic Labour Group, the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union's junior ruling coalition partner, last week proposed three candidates for the job.

Milda Vainiutė last week resigned as justice minister following public allegations that the ministry's leadership had interfered with an audit of the prison system and criticism from the president.
