President Dalia Grybauskaitė has signed a decree, dismissing the prime minister off his duties for Friday.

"The prime minister is going to Vilkaviškis to meet with voters," his spokesman Mindaugas Janulionis told BNS.

Butkevicius is running in the Vilkaviškis single-mandate district and the multi-mandate district as the first entry of the Social Democratic Party's candidate list.

He has been winning his MP mandate in the single-mandate district in Vilkaviskis since 1996.

The parliamentary election is scheduled for Sunday, October 9.
