Lithuanian Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis says that there is no rush to find a replacement for Mindaugas Sinkevičius, who last month resigned as economy minister, but adds that he has several candidates for the post.

"There are several candidates and our search has stopped at that. We just need to wait and see how the political processes in the Seimas are evolving," Skvernelis told Žinių Radijas on Thursday morning.

"For the time being, I think the energy minister is coping well with the Economy Ministry," he added.

Social Democrat Sinkevicius stepped down in mid-October after his party's council voted in late September to leave the government coalition with the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union.

Energy Minister Žygimantas Vaičiūnas is currently serving as an interim economy minister.
