Around 41 percent of Lithuanians were more or less positive about the government’s performance in October, up 4.6 percentage points from September, the latest poll by the public opinion and market researcher Spinter Tyrimai has shown.

The proportion of sceptics fell to 53 percent, from 58.5 percent in September, and the proportion of those undecided edged up to 6 percent, from 4.9 percent.

Political expert Vytautas Dumbliauskas believes that the ranks of optimists could have swelled as a result of prime minister’s decision to drop plans to revoke VAT exemptions for heating. In addition, the government might have benefited from the euphoria from the arrival of the Independence, the floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal.

On 17-27 October, the researcher polled 1,004 respondents aged between 18 and 75 as part of the survey commissioned by DELFI.
