Chapters of the party were obligated to elect delegates to the congress and put forward candidates for the chairperson's position. Although a decision was made on Friday that the Labour Party would be temporarily headed by Deputy Chairman Valentinas Bukauskas, however, it was later announced that Viktor Uspaskich, the founder and Honorary Chairman of the party, would be taking the wheel until a successor is elected in June.

As reported, Graužinienė resigned on 17 March taking personal responsibility for the poor results showcased by the Labour Party in municipal and mayoral elections. Graužinienė has said that she would not attempt to take the position again.
